How Mercari fees work
Mercari brought back a 10% seller fee for listings created or updated from January 2025, and it applies to the item price plus any shipping the buyer pays. The separate processing fee older guides mention no longer applies to current listings.
If you choose a prepaid Mercari label with buyer-paid shipping, the shipping passes through to cover the label but still counts toward the 10% fee. Pricing items with shipping built in or offering free shipping changes how much of the fee lands on shipping.
Worked example
Take a $30 item with $6 buyer-paid shipping, a $6 item cost and a $6 label. Mercari charges $3.60 in fees (10.0% of the $36.00 the buyer paid you), leaving a payout of $32.40. After $12.00 of costs you keep $20.40. To make $5 more on the same item, you would need to sell it for $35.55.

Mercari takes 10% of the item price plus any shipping the buyer paid. A $30 item with $6 shipping costs $3.60 in fees.
Does Mercari still charge a payment processing fee?
Not on current listings. The 10% selling fee replaced the old 2.9% + $0.50 processing charge.

Does Mercari refund fees on returns?
Not always. If a sale is cancelled before shipping you usually are not charged, but fees on returned items may be kept.
