How Whatnot fees work
From September 21, 2026, Whatnot sets your commission by your total sales in each four-week period. Every period starts from zero, and a tier you reach lowers your rate for the next period, not the current one.
Commission is charged on the item price only, but processing is charged on the whole order including shipping and tax, and it never drops with your tier. On cheap items the fixed 30 cents is a large share, so bundling helps.
Worked example
Take a $40 fashion item with $5 shipping paid at the Standard tier, a $10 item cost and a $5 label. Whatnot charges $4.81 in fees (10.7% of the $45.00 the buyer paid you), leaving a payout of $40.19. After $15.00 of costs you keep $25.19. To make $5 more on the same item, you would need to sell it for $45.61.

Questions sellers ask
What is Whatnot's commission in 2026?
8% at the Standard tier for most US categories and 4% for coins. Higher four-week sales lower it to as little as 4% to 6.5%, depending on category.
Does Whatnot take commission on shipping?
No. Commission is on the item price, but the 2.9% + $0.30 processing fee includes shipping and tax.
How does the four-week tier reset work?
Your tier comes from completed sales inside one 28-day period. The next period starts from zero, and sales do not carry over.
Is there a fee to go live on Whatnot?
No. There are no listing or show fees; you pay only when something sells.
